Because their very existence in the story is tragic. They’re kids that were sent off to die in a reality TV show and we don’t even know most of their names. If we don’t care about them and only care about Katniss and Peeta, then we’re just like the Capitol people who only cared about their pick for winner.

Honestly, I imagine this, like, epic battle that the Capitol people would have absolutely adored but I really can’t see Cato killing Clove. Like, something would have have stopped him, be it friendship, romantic feelings or loyalty, so Clove would have taken that opportunity to finish him off while his guard was down but it would have haunted her for the rest of her life.

Why? You know, aside from the fact that only a couple had braids, braids are freaking practical. What kind of hair did you expect them to have in the arena? Freaking ringlet curls?? I feel like people forget that braids aren’t just “Katniss’ thing” and that other people throughout the series had them, like Delly and Prim.
